Tuesday:           Complete the study guide for Chapters 6 and 7 of Shipwrecked. Please use complete sentences when answering the questions.

 

4th graders will have a spelling test over the following words and should write down the words at least one time per day: dismayed, elated, baffled, catered, assured, wielded, stench

5th and 6th students should write out the spelling words (all the words from the vocabulary list at least one time per day to practice for the next spelling test which will be on Monday, April 20th.  6th graders will also be asked to write the definition  for each spelling word.

 

Come prepared to recite the memory verse and definition for the character trait, honor on Monday if you did not recite the verse today in class.

Thursday:      Read The Haitian Revolt in Chapter 30 of The Story of the World.  After the first reading, give a narration to a parent.  After the narration, answer the questions in the History Notebook.

 

                        Do the Map Work:

  1. The people of Saint Domingue heard of the revolutions in America and in France. Color those two countries red. (The north borer of the United States ends around the Great Lakes.  Do not color, in red, the area north of the Great Lakes.)
  2. Many of the millions of slaves in Saint Domingue came from Africa. Find Africa on the map and color it orange.
  3. Spain declared war on France, and helped drive the French out of Saint Domingue. Color Spain blue and then underline “Haiti” in blue.
  4. Under the leadership of Leclerc, France re-conguered Haiti. Draw a red line over the top of the word “Saint Domingue.”
  5. Leclerc and his men caught yellow fever. Soon after this, the English came to Saint Domingue, determined to drive France from the island.  Draw an arrow from England to the island of Saint Domingue.

 

Friday:           Take the Chapter 27 History test.  The students reviewed in class today, but should review the History Notebook questions before taking the test.  As always, students may write (and are strongly encouraged) other information from these chapters for extra credit.

Friday:           There is no math homework on Friday because of the IOWA tests scheduled for tomorrow.  Students should get a good night of rest and eat a breakfast high in protein Friday morning.  As the lunchroom will be used for testing, there will not be access to water or the vending machine.  Please have your student bring a water bottle, snacks, a book to read (if desired), two #2 pencils and a calculator.
